It was just announced on June 28, 2007 at 10:45 am that Kato Keller of B93.7 was not Fired! YAY! Thank you to everyone that has supported Kato and can't wait to hear you on the radio tomorrow morning. KATO'S BACK!
Back in 2000 I had just became homeless in Asheville NC. I wasn't familiar with anyone or anything around me. I was living at the Western Carolina Rescue Mission and was trying to make friends. Now I had alot of weird and interesting encounters around the town and when your homeless you seem to be looking around more then anything. Well a friend of mine found a yellow CD one day. The CD contained no music and the cover just had a Bee with the words Hawk & Tom with brick background. He gave me the CD and I started listening to it. Now at that time I didn't have a radio but I was always carrying my CD Player. Now as I listened to this CD I realized I fell upon something special. At first I thought the CD was just a bunch of people acting this out but then I started realizing that this was real. This person by the name of Kato Keller was doing these things called "Torture Tuesday" and two guys by the name of Hawk and Tom would tell him what to do. Everytime I would listen to this CD I would laugh my butt off.
Now for awhile I thought this Hawk and Tom CD was from a far off state and that I would never be able to find this radio station till I was in a friend of mines car. I hear the radio call out B93.7 and it played all the Hits. I began to love this station but I didn't realize that I was listening to the same station that made this CD. Now one morning I woke up and heard the same voices I was hearing on this CD. it was Hawk and Tom and now I was able to listen to "Torture Tuesday". I was so happy!
Now my time spent in Asheville has been great and I made some great friends. I made one friend by the name of Neal. There was a time when I had a apartment but no TV. So during this time I would wake up to Hawk and Tom. Well they made a announcement that they where gonna be in the Asheville area Wal-Mart advertising there new CD (This was just last year). I knew I had to meet them. So the day of there visit I went to the store. Luckily my friend Neal was there and he knew when I told him that Hawk and Tom where there what I wanted to do. See I've always wanted to do my own Torture Tuesday for Hawk and Tom because I love what Kato does and I was hoping to have my chance. So me and Neal had to wait for the transit and while we waited I took my chance. Hawk and Tom where signing autographs and when it would die down we would start talking to the guys. I told my story of the first Hawk and Tom CD I found and how I wanted to do a "Torture Tuesday". They told because of legal reasons that it couldn't happen (It also didn't help that Neal had to egg on about my whining, LOL!).
To shorten this down, I basically had no job opportunities and my friend Neal just recently moved to Greenville SC. I decide to make my move to Greenville and to make a long story short I'm currently staying at the Salvation Army. Now every morning I get up and listen to the Hawk and Tom show to make my morning happy.
Tuesday - June 26, 2007: I woke up in the shelter ready to hear about Torture Tuesday. I was waiting for the Library to open and I didn't realize I would be laughing my butt off. Hawk and Tom had setup Kato Keller to set off some firecrackers in Chase Murphy's office. Now lets sum this down. Kato set off the firecrackers and shut the door. The room filled with smoke. Now keep in mind before he set these off, he taped up the fire alarm and moved anything flamable. Now Hawk and Tom wanted to make sure there was no fire and asked Kato to check. Now at this it was a misscommunication because Kato thought Tom wanted him to check by opening the door but Tom wanted him to look through the window. Now this was impossible because the smoke was filling up the entire room. When Kato opened the door, this set off the fire alarm and right on the air you could hear this alarm screeching off. Then they went to commercial.Now when they got back on later, Chase Murphy called and didn't know exactly what was going on and had to come in early. Now the radio show went on till Chase came in around 9am. Now at this point I had been laughing like crazy but when Chase came into the studio and told Hawk and Tom to stop the show, my heart skipped a beat. Usually Hawk and Tom doesn't go off till 9:30 or 9:45am. Then they where gone and I didn't know what was happening?Wednesday - June 27, 2007: I woke up at the shelter. It had been a rough night and I had so much on my mind that I didn't know what was going on. Now I knew I was heading to the library today because I had family matters to attend to. I didn't start listening to Hawk and Tom till 8am when I started hearing about Kato being suspended and possibly fired. Hawk and Tom also informed listeners that they where gonna fight this. And I agreed but what can a homeless person do? Well you see it here. I may not be able to call in and pledge my support but I can write my support. I love Kato. He's funny, brave and look up to him. I have always wanted to do my own Torture Tuesday but Kato is the king. If Kato gets fired then you haven't just lost a listener, you've lost a fan and a follower. I will never ever listen to B93.7 if Kato Keller is fired. So please save Kato. We need all the help we can get. And understand, mistakes happen but if Kato is liable then so is Hawk and Tom. This is not just Kato's fault. I have included all the links you need to contact and help Kato. Please Save Kato. It's all I could ask!?Sincerely,
